For my thesis project, I photographed my familiar surroundings. I noticed instances of natural light entering my house,  all of them a surprise during my days. Containing my camera in one place, that was often empty and where I spent much time, allowed me to gather many images over a period of six months. I realized that it was in the mundane, everyday places where I was most interested in finding a little beauty.

I displayed the photographs in light boxes to make the viewing experience extraordinary and relate back to the subject of the photographs. As light sensitive materials are the essential elements for traditional photography, I created this series of photographs with the light as the subject. The word photography is in fact rooted in the phrase “to draw with light” from the Greek photo- meaning light and graphia- meaning to draw.
